UAPI has signed a Memorandum of Agreement with Synbion, a research-driven spin-off of UMPSA Holdings Sdn. Bhd. – the commercial subsidiary of Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA), Malaysia's leading applied research university. Through this agreement, Synbion supplies UAPI with OUDIno, the world's most scientifically rigorous agarwood inoculation technology, under an exclusive Philippines license.
This three-way collaboration – UAPI's plantation infrastructure, Iba Botanicals' processing capability, and UMPSA's research depth – is the foundation of our competitive advantage. It is not a vendor relationship. It is an ongoing R&D partnership, with joint monitoring, shared data, and continuous product improvement.
The Philippines has always had the land, the climate, and the native Aquilaria species. What it lacked was the right technology and the right partners. Both are now in place.

OUDIno is a natural microbial inoculant engineered to trigger targeted, high-density resin formation in Aquilaria trees. It is the product of more than 10 years of dedicated research and millions of dollars in investment by UMPSA's Bioaromatics Research Center.
Unlike chemical-based inoculants, OUDIno replicates the biological stress pathway that produces resin naturally – focusing specifically on sesquiterpenes, the aromatic compounds responsible for agarwood's distinctive fragrance and commercial value. Quality is verified using Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) analysis, the same analytical standard used by international buyers and regulatory bodies.
Trees are eligible for inoculation once the trunk diameter reaches 25 cm. Harvest can follow in as little as 12 months after inoculation. OUDIno has been validated by major agarwood producers and end-buyers across Southeast Asia and the Middle East.
As UAPI's operations scale, we plan to manufacture the inoculant locally in the Philippines under license – reducing costs, strengthening local supply chains, and deepening Philippine participation in the agarwood value chain.
